The founding of Bering Optics dates back to the Gen I night vision binoculars, introduced in 1998. This product established the foundation for all subsequent classes of night vision equipment available under recognized brands.

While the Bering Optics brand was established as an independent business later, the company's prior experience working on OEM projects served as a solid base for developing new, innovative products.

The Bering Optics' growth from an OEM specialist to an independent market participant was born from the need for a test laboratory and a proving ground for pilot production before market new concepts and goods to more giant OEM corporations.

When it became apparent that many products were of no interest to larger companies, the time came to bring them to the market under a private label in 2009.

At the time, the United States was in the midst of a subprime mortgage crisis. Nevertheless, this event left a strong imprint on the new brand and company formation of Bering Optics.

The brand-name logo symbolizes the phenomenon Nassim Taleb defined as Antifragility in business: It's a state of being robust to change and disorder, where something grows from adversity. After all, many things benefit from disruptions.

Bering Optics embodies this spirit and invites you to join the ride with high-quality optic systems that give you the advantage when you're ready to turn challenges into opportunities.

+  What's Better, Thermal or Night Vision?

Scope selection is a passionate topic with hunters globally. There are numerous conditions to factor within a scope decision. The first consideration is what game do you plan to target. Second, what is the needs and location of use for the equipment. After those determinations have been addressed, you can choose between night vision or thermal scopes.

Thermal imaging and night vision both assist a hunter in identifying their targeted game animal. Various considerations weigh the selection of using night vision or thermal scopes.

Experience What Makes Bering Optics Different
+  Identifying Your Target

Once your targeted game has been exposed, a hunter must identify it as the targeted prey. When using thermal, images are presented as black and white or different shades of color. Various colors are applied to signify temperature. In thermal imaging, the warmer the target, the lighter the image, although newer thermal scopes can invert black and white or employ various colors to distinguish heat intensity. Most nighttime hunters favor thermal because it allows them to see through crops or fog during their hunt.
